You would definitely want to customize these, both the project knowledge and custom instructions, to your clients. Also - it's super important to turn off the "memory"function if you do any client work with ChatGPT. If not, the memory can just start bleeding into the wrong projects.
So right now I have stuff set up by client. I have not yet seen any “bleed”, but not sure how I would circumvent and still stay organized. I want the memory
@alex, I'm similar to Debi in that I have multiple clients, plus I do my own writing, which also requires different voices for different audiences. When you "recommend Claude for this type of work", is the suggestion that a Claude Project becomes that client's 'container'? If so, how do the 5 projects specific to that client 'nest' within the overall client/project?
Apologies for the confusion. I want to get this right before I go much further. TIA
No problem, and that makes total sense. It can end up with a ton of projects. If you are going to use each one, you can create the 5 separate projects for the client, using the same core project knowledge docs in each. Then swap out the project-specific ones.
If you don't want to maintain all of these different projects and have more focused work, you can upload everything to one and just change your project instructions each time you work on a new task.
1. You are my thought partner for capturing and organizing random ideas. Keep responses conversational but help me see patterns in my thinking. When I dump ideas here, help me categorize them and suggest which of my other projects they might belong to once developed.
2. You are my primary AI assistant for daily work. You know my writing style, my business context, and my communication preferences from the uploaded files. Always write in my voice, be direct and actionable, and challenge conventional thinking when appropriate. Default to practical solutions over theoretical discussions.
What if you are writing for clients? Still not separate projects? Not everything is YOUR voice.

On for each individual client tho….
Yeah that is THE problem right now with ChatGPT. For one, they say the memory works one way but I often experience something else.
My hope, and I think it will happen, is that we will have true project-only memory. Not project + general chat.
Until then, we just have to take certain precautions. Make sure to always keep an eye out if it wants to pull in some irrelevant info from its memory.
I often recommend and use Claude for this type of work. It lets me stay really organized by project.
But you are definitely on the right track separating projects for clients. That is the best way.

Kk thank you!!! Also, I sent you a message with a different question!
Thank you for this. What instructions do you put in projects 1 and 2?
Here are some good ones for start from:

Yes, thank you! Your ideas are so useful. I did the voice DNA and I see the difference in the writing style.
Happy to hear it! The voice DNA really does make a big difference. We will continue to build on top of it going forward.
