Helpful summary, Alex.

Can you explain why/when a business would use a Custom GPT vs. a "Project" approach to business problem solving? And do you ever use the custom GPT method in your work?

It would help to understand this distinction from the context of what you've summarized with ChatGPT's persistent context updates.

Thank you,

—Mike

Hey Mike.

Honestly, a lot of it is just marketing. A lot of it is the same.

The big difference would be the ability to share a custom GPT with others, which is not so simple with a project. Both allow you to add custom instructions, add reference files, and carry out multiple chats. OpenAI loves to have a ton of offerings.

As for my work, I never use Custom GPTs. I'm not a fan. And when it comes to memory, I don't find ChatGPT's to work very well. For these reasons, I do everything with Claude.

I run Claude projects and use its memory, which is more of a full referencing of all your chats in a project.

If you are using ChatGPT for business problem-solving, I would recommend using projects. You have more direct control over all the layers.

I use customGPTs as my observer Node. Because they can be programed to act analytically and they are disconnected from your main memory. This allows a more objective review of work you complete in your main stack.
