I use both extensively, and often the same prompt to compare the result, and from what I see:
1) They are both very good of course, but
2) Gemini reads significantly more resources than ChatGPT, however, mostly just skim through the material (how I feel from reading the report and thought process), so Gemini is wider and ChatGPT is deeper, like much deeper
2) Gemini's report are, mostly, flat, it has tons of information, but ChatGPT, especially o3 model, wins easily on the quality and depth of writing, it makes the reports so enjoyable to read while Gemini is like stacking all the information
3) While Gemini 2.5 pro is extremely powerful, the output token is still limited, (+ a significant chunk of the word count goes to references), something that I really hope it changes in future updates
4) Gemini is cheap, 20 reports per day for paid user, that's 600 a month! While ChatGPT plus only got 25 a month
with this, I mostly use Gemini for testing/exploration, then, after reading the reports, go to ChatGPT o3 with a good prompt and get an in-depth, high-quality report.
